Around the Corner

Name: Jeremy Alexander Everett
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Male
Grade: Ten
Gift: Memory Manipulation
Look in the Mirror
And tell me what you see…
And tell me what you see…
Picture:
Naked Description: Jeremy doesn't have outrageous hair. If anything, he's a bit boring with his long blond locks. Normally it's combed down and not too interesting. In fact, his friends actually hope for wind to mess his hair up a little (seeing him get anxious about it is just a plus). He sort of matches his companion, Kairi, except her hair's dark and his is light. His eyes are also different than Kairi's- he has golden eyes that match his sincere smile. His complexion is pale and, much to his parents dismay, he doesn't hold a tan. He'll just turn red and peel, giving him a constant pasty look. He doesn't mind though, other than the fact that it makes his blush painfully apparent.
Clothing Description: Jeremy is an odd kid. He doesn't wear chains, he doesn't wear bright colors, and yet, he still manages to stand out. Most notable about the boy is the ribbon he wears tied over his hands (nullifying his ability). They come in a variety of colors but they're always perfectly wrapped - he'd know, he takes a lot of time wrapping them. If you don't notice his wrapped hands, you can't miss his hoodies. That's as characteristic of him as anything. He wears mostly blacks, browns, and grays. Sometimes (if you ask nicely) he'll wear solid white.
Suits and ties aren't out of his comfort zone. For his parents, he used to dress up almost constantly. Their various social functions sort of made it necessary. Now that he's in school and around kids his own age, he's more likely to wear a tie because Kai told him to, opposed to actually wanting to look formal. In fact Kai has more to say about what he wears than he does if he's not just going with a pair of jeans and a hoodie. What he puts on is just as big of a mystery as ever to him. Ask Kai- she'll know.
Overall: An agile baseball playing teenager with hands wrapped in ribbon. Appears to be your average human victim.
Tattoos/Piercings: A piercing in each ear (Kai's idea) - he normally wears silver ear cuffs.
Other: Nothing to add.
Talk To Yourself
And I understand…
And I understand…
Personality: Jeremy was a perfectionist by nature and a subtle, easy to miss kid at the same time. What he did attracted attention more than any words he ever spoke. Jeremy didn't say much, anyway- he was too nervous to talk if what he was saying wasn't rehearsed. If you became friends with him (an easy feat if you approached him), you'd find he's actually a caring, passive child. He's endlessly loyal, strikingly protective, and understandably paternal. On the negative side he's vengeful, shy, and idealistic. He goes out of his way to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone (even when they deserve it). If you meet him with Kai, it's really hard to see his personality- Kairi overshadows him completely with her exuberant personality.
Jeremy lack of social grace would lead some to believe he's a little slow on the uptake. This couldn't be farther from the truth- Jeremy is brilliant. He finds it easy to get straight A's (a necessity to make his father proud) in most classes, and those he can't get by with ease, he manages to learn in time. His polite and respectful attitude usually leaves teachers willing to help him understand the class material. He's really the classic teacher's pet, in fact- he gravitates toward authority figures for approval. Not only teachers, though! Whether they're overly confident teenagers, like Kairi, or school staff, his goal in life seems to be to catch their eye.
Social level: He is not a social butterfly because he is often devastatingly shy. Stammering, blushing, or ruffling his hair (an anxious habit) seem to be as normal as it is for him to say hi. For the most part he only gets anxious when he's alone with someone new. If he's with someone he knows well, he gets a boost of confidence and, unless provoked (as in flirted with or put on the spot in some way), he keeps it together... usually.
Effort: If effort equated success, he'd be set. Unfortunately, his effort usually equates stress. But he isn't scared of hard work. He works out regularly for baseball, but not to the extent that he'd be in the running for a marathon or the title of body builder. Just a routine habit of a basic exercise regiment is enough. But for school work, there seems no end to the amount of effort he'll put forth.
Likes: The appearance of the world during winter, authority figures, butterscotch, fruit, furry animals, the predictable sounds like ticking of a watch or clock, chocolate, and photography.
Dislikes: The idea of becoming a vampire, being cold, energy drinks, being alone, silence, fires, pyros, and getting into fights.
Hobbies: Photography, cooking, playing casual sports, star gazing, and singing.
Goals: Make his dad proud, live his life as just a gifted teen - not a vampire or a werewolf or any other crazy supernatural being, and become a college history teacher.
Talents: Singing, taking photos, and cooking.
What Happened
I’ve seen through the years…
I’ve seen through the years…
History: With a nickname of "Evie", one might expect him to be a youthful, innocent boy. And he is. He got the nickname "Evie" (originally Eevee, until he insisted it was an abbreviation of Everett) because he reminded Kairi of Eevee from Pokemon. So sweet, but with so much potential! Plus, he was fluffy and cute. Before that everyone called him by his name, Jeremy, and life was a bit easier. He was your average boy who tried hard to impress his father- a successful political figure in the newly established Scottish Parliament.
Jeremy didn't seem like he'd make a mark on the world until the tender age of six when his power surfaced. His touch began to drudge up people's memories, even making them live them again. Obviously this wasn't something they could explain, so they kept it to themselves and they just avoided the odd little boy. Jeremy, however, couldn't handle the overflow of memories. While memories were intangible sensations and perceptions, the transference of them brought with it a certain level of energy. It was that energy (used to provide clarity in the memories, to make the more real, and to help the recall of the memories when he had them in his mind) that really scared him. He could channel that energy and share his own memories- usually he did it without meaning to, because there was an overflow of energy.
When all seemed lost to the six year old (a month with his power seemed like an eternity), a man named Shiloh appeared. Kairi sent him, though Jeremy didn't know it then and doesn't know it now. He hadn't met Kairi- Kairi watched from afar. Shiloh was a mysterious man but a man who had the same ability. He was able to train Jeremy, to teach him a few things like how to channel that excess energy from memories into inanimate objects and how to retrieve memories from said objects when he or Shiloh placed them there. That was when he first started carrying around the toy, a glow-in-the-dark Fushigi. He was able to transfer memories and energy into that ball, like a storage place. It didn't change the ball at all, it just gave him a reserve of energy. The solid ball is actually more dangerous than he is, though. It's solid and, if dropped, it'll shatter tile or bruise flesh. Throwing it is his greatest defense since he keeps his hands wrapped up, stopping his ability completely.
Parents: Jacques "Jack" Everett, no gift, political figure & Cecilia Everett, no gift, housewife and mother.
Siblings: N/A
Important people: Kairi Cambria Graham, sixteen, a student: Kai is the first proof of supernatural beings that Jeremy met. She's a somewhat embarrassing, dangerous vampire who took an interest in him and effectively changed his name to Evie. Her protection keeps him from being attacked, but her obsession with him is a bit frightening. Kai would think nothing of killing someone for being unkind to Jeremy (she'd kill anyway- she is a vampire. She'll just have a reason to enjoy killing them). Despite her devotion, the relationship is strictly platonic. Kairi will imply otherwise because it makes her 'keep away from Jeremy' campaign easier.
Shiloh, in his thirties, unknown occupation: Shiloh is a very mysterious figure in Jeremy's life. Shiloh was his mentor when it came to his ability because he had the same ability. He was around on and off for three years, teaching him about his power until he disappeared when Jeremy was nine.
Other: Nope, nothing to add.

There it was. The sinking feeling that something was coming. Something dangerous, something Silas wasn't ready to see. His prior experiences with vampires, namely the one that had a perverse interest in him, told him that there was a limitless potential for evil in the world. And his prior experiences also told him that when you got a bad feeling in the woods, it was never something to take lightly.[/color]"Silas murmured, taking tentative steps backward as he stared out at his surroundings. If this was Death calling again, he wasn't amused. The feeling persisted, generally unnerving him as he continued to move backwards. Not even the feeling of his shoes filling with water stopped his movements.
"Wh-what?
In a split second he felt his shoe slip on the surface beneath, sending his entire body into the lake water. He wasn't dressed for a swim; actually, he was wearing a red and white polo shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans. Hardly water ready clothes. When his white hair broke the surface, it was plastered to his face, sending rivulets of water cascading down past his cheeks. Well. That was one way to calm himself down.
Silas began to laugh. Despite how cold this evening was, despite how icky lake water was, he just stayed where he was and laughed simply because he still could as he wiped away the water from his face (a useless attempt; more water fell, and his hand wasn't dry to begin with).
